About Us
Each tertiary institution is expected to operate in accordance with quality standards. High-caliber universities typically emerge from the exceptional commitment of their leadership, in concert with their faculty, administrative staff, and students. This entails a profound commitment that is distinctly manifested in their vision, mission, objectives, strategic plans, desired standards, leadership, organization, resources, and collaborations. To enhance its role in the academic and social spheres, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is continuously undertaking self-improvement initiatives. Since 2003, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has explicitly committed to transitioning from a teaching university to a research university. A research university is not merely a teaching institution or an entity that solely transmits established knowledge; rather, it is a higher education institution where the entire academic community dedicates its full attention to endeavors aimed at creating and advancing knowledge. Recognizing the aforementioned factors underscores that it is opportune for UIN to assume a more significant academic role.
To consolidate its position in alignment with and in support of its aspiration to be a research university, the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta established a quality enhancement unit on May 18, 2004, named the Center for Quality Development and Assurance (CeQDA), or Pusat Peningkatan dan Jaminan Mutu (PPJM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Since its inception, PPJM has been an integral component of the overall university's quality enhancement efforts. PPJM is envisioned as the element that will clarify, foster, consolidate, accelerate, systematize, and institutionalize the movement for quality in higher education. In 2008, PPJM evolved into LPJM (Lembaga Peningkatan dan Jaminan Mutu), a transformation driven by the demands of best practices in quality assurance systems, which necessitate the presence of quality assurance units at the university, faculty, and study program levels. Following the issuance of the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 06 of 2013 concerning the Organizational Structure of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, LPJM was renamed Lembaga Penjaminan Mutu (LPM), or the Quality Assurance Institute. The Head of LPM is supported by a Secretary and two Center Heads.
